Seattle liquor sales book from Washington Territorial period, 1881-1885.

A month by month record of liquor sales in Seattle between September of 1881 and September of 1885. The book is organized similarly to an accounts book. Each line entry lists the name of the person or organization purchasing the alcohol, the type and quantity of alcohol being purchased, the price of the alcohol and finally the total cost of all items purchased. The book contains the names of many prominent Seattle citizens and organizations of the time including: John Leary, the Sisters of Charity, Providence Hospital and Kellogg and Anderson. The name E. F. Leary has been written (most likely by the library) on the spine. However, there are no markings inside of the book that reveal the identity of the compiler or make any mention of an E. F. Leary (probably Eliza Ferry Leary, daughter of Elisha P. Ferry, first Washington State Governor and wife of attorney, John Leary, who served as Mayor of Seattle in 1884; she donated several manuscript collections and other materials to the University of Washington Libraries).
